HAL receives RFP from MOD for 156 LCH

Date:

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), a premier aerospace and defense company in India, has received a significant Request for Proposal (RFP) from the Ministry of Defence. The proposal entails the procurement of 156 Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) worth Rs 45,000 crore. This development marks a major milestone in India’s defense procurement strategy, aimed at bolstering the nation’s air combat capabilities.

The LCH is an indigenously developed multi-role attack helicopter, designed and manufactured by HAL. It is equipped with state-of-the-art avionics, weaponry, and sensors, making it a formidable asset in both high-altitude and urban combat scenarios. The helicopter’s design incorporates armor protection, and crash-worthy landing gear, ensuring enhanced survivability and performance.

This procurement is part of the Indian government’s ongoing efforts to modernize its armed forces and reduce dependency on foreign defense equipment. The induction of these helicopters will significantly enhance the operational capabilities of the Indian Air Force and Army Aviation Corps, providing them with a versatile and agile platform to conduct a wide range of missions, including anti-tank warfare, close air support, and reconnaissance.

HAL’s receipt of the RFP is a testament to its growing capabilities in the defense manufacturing sector. The successful execution of this project will not only boost HAL’s standing in the global defense market but also contribute to the “Make in India” initiative, fostering self-reliance and technological advancement in the country’s defense sector.
