Update from Battle Front
Indian Standard Time 0100 hrs
Capture of Sumy has Started.
Having recaptured bulk of Kursk, the Russian troops are leaning on Sumy.
I use the word ‘lean’ deliberately. ‘Lean On’ is an armoured tactic of contacting the enemy on a broad front. That is exactly what is happening.
The Russian Armoured columns have turned South West and are Leaning on a broad front all across Sumy. Iskander strikes on the concentration of forces and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in the Sumy region is going on.
After the end of military operations in the border areas of the Kursk region and the physical destruction of all Ukrainian units, the question of continuing the offensive towards Sumy was in a way logically inevitable. The target is said to be the 144th Brigade of the AFU which is holding fort in Sumy.
Like is typical of a ‘lean on’ heavy shelling and softening of targets is being carried out by Russia.
Deep Analysis: Russian airborne troops, including Crimean paratroopers and Don Cossack regiments, are engaging Ukrainian forces in Sumy, focusing on destroying NATO-supplied combat equipment that can take on the tanks, once they come in.
Importance: Signals Russian offensive expansion in Sumy and beyond to increase Ukrainian defense strain. This could also threaten Lebedyn further South West. This fresh occupied territories could obviously be used during negotiations to bargain for some other areas which are Russian speaking.
Key Developments: Russian airborne troops operating behind enemy lines accompanied by Lean On. Sumy was previously attacked in February 2022 but later taken back by Ukrainian forces, now, Moscow appears ready to strike again.
The red arrows below mark the move of Russian forces on a broad front, leaning on Sumy.
