Surgeon Vice Adm Anupam Kapur Takes Charge as Director General Hospital Services (Armed Forces)

Surgeon Vice Admiral Anupam Kapur has officially assumed the role of Director General Hospital Services (Armed Forces) at the office of the Director General Armed Forces Medical Services. The Flag Officer, who was commissioned into the Indian Navy on June 27, 1987, has had a distinguished career spanning several decades, marked by numerous achievements and accolades.

Before taking over as the DGHS (Armed Forces), Adm Kapur served as the Command Medical Officer of the Western Naval Command, where he played a pivotal role in overseeing medical operations and healthcare services. His leadership extended to commanding two of the Indian Navy’s premier hospitals, INHS Asvini and INHS Sanjivani, where he contributed significantly to enhancing medical care for naval personnel.

An alumnus of the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune, Surgeon Vice Admiral Kapur has specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology, further super-specializing in Gynecological Endoscopy. His extensive medical expertise and dedication to service have earned him a reputation as one of the most respected medical professionals within the Indian Armed Forces.

In recognition of his outstanding service, Adm Kapur has been awarded the Nao Sena Medal, a testament to his exceptional contributions to the Indian Navy and the Armed Forces Medical Services. Additionally, he has been commended twice by the Chief of the Naval Staff and by the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (West), further underscoring his dedication and excellence in the field.

As Surgeon Vice Admiral Anupam Kapur takes on the role of Director General Hospital Services (Armed Forces), his leadership and medical expertise are expected to further enhance the quality of healthcare provided to the Indian Armed Forces.
