With an illustrious career spanning 39 years in the Indian Air Force, Air Marshal P K Roy (R) brings exceptional operational, strategic and diplomatic experience to the national security domain.
During his distinguished service, he commanded the only Unified Command of the Indian Armed Forces at the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a critical tri-service theatre of strategic importance.
As Commandant of the National Defence College, India, he conducted year-long programmes on National Security and Strategy for senior officers of the Indian Armed Forces and Civil Services, as well as defence officers from friendly foreign nations. He represented India at the Asian Regional Forum Conference in Bali in 2011 and led National Defence College delegations to Israel, Sweden, Mexico, Chile, Morocco and South Africa. He also headed a defence delegation to China for strategic discussions at the Shanghai Institute of International Studies.
His diplomatic tenure includes three years as Military and Air Attaché at the Indian Embassy in Ukraine and Romania, strengthening bilateral defence engagement. He later held the Admiral R D Katari Chair of Excellence at the United Service Institution of India, New Delhi, where he conducted research on “Strategic Vision 2030 for Security and Development of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.”
He is presently a Member of the Governing Council of India Foundation. A seasoned aviator, he has accumulated over 4,500 hours of helicopter flying experience.
