How have things come to such an impasse that a Serving Army Col posted in Army HQ has not only been assaulted but almost survived an attempt to murder? They have, and DON’T KNOW WHY.
The senior officers initially told army personnel should not write ARMY on their vehicles, DON’T KNOW WHY. Why can’t Army people have an identity that is visible and respected? Why is it so difficult for the bureaucracy and politicians to understand this much?
However everyone kept their identity, and rightfully so.
During my YOs Commandant ACC&S passed orders for YOs to not use bikes but use cycles instead, even when off parade. DON’T KNOW WHY. The country sees the Young Officers like Tom Cruise of Top Gun, they actually handle their tanks with dash, but the Gen Saab felt that they can’t handle bikes. Obviously if you give such respect and dignity to your own officers, civil police would care two hoots.
All 2IC of units have been defanked. Obviously they are not going to spew venom for nothing. But well if an officers dignity and life is endangered the local unit needs to activate the QRT. Earlier 2IC could do it, he can’t do it now, DON’T KNOW WHY.
Some years back I was in field and some drunk goon hit my father who is now 78 and was around 69 then, because he was driving slowly. No FIR lodged. Even when I came back no consideration for immediate action or arrest. I had to pick the guy up and bring him to the police station for further action. They did not act on their own, I DON’T KNOW WHY.
May be they care about Maj Gen and above, for they are well connected. May be they care about civilians too because they know politicians. Army Jawan is out of his home town and has no contact circle left. And our hierarchy has let the jawan down. And just asking where are the likes of Gul Panag? They are in public life or not? They are but not speaking up, WE DON’T KNOW WHY.
I can go on and on….I barely know Col Bath but I have served in Patiala. And I know how drunk in power police there can be sometimes. It seems personal and it hurts. DON’T KNOW WHY.
Each blow on Col Bath is a blow on dignity of a Soldier. It is, but WE DON’T KNOW WHY
They say in US and Israel politicians should have served the forces, well that’s good but why are Ex-faujies being pushed out of office of power? Col Rajyavardhan is no longer a minister at the centre, neither is Gen Singh. No CM is an ex Fauji, well all parties say they are nationalist but can’t find an Ex Serviceman for positions of real impact, DON’T KNOW WHY.
