Admiral Aleksandr Alekseyevich Moiseyev, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Federation Navy, is visiting India from August 19 to 22, 2024. The visit aims to reinforce the longstanding naval relationship between Russia and India and explore new avenues for cooperation.
In a significant move to reinforce the robust naval relationship between Russia and India, Admiral Aleksandr Alekseyevich Moiseyev, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Federation Navy, is on an official visit to India from August 19 to 22, 2024. This visit underscores the enduring ties and collaborative spirit between the two navies, aiming to strengthen bilateral relations and explore new avenues for naval cooperation.
Admiral Moiseyev commenced his visit by calling on Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, the Chief of the Naval Staff of the Indian Navy, on August 19, 2024, in New Delhi. During their meeting, the admirals discussed various collaborative mechanisms and measures to further enhance Navy-to-Navy cooperation. Admiral Moiseyev was welcomed with a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the South Block Lawns.
The Indian Navy and the Russian Federation Navy have a history of cooperation on multiple fronts, including operational interactions, training, hydrographic cooperation, and the exchange of Subject Matter Experts through the IRIGC M&MTC mechanism. Additionally, the Indian Navy has been actively engaging with the Russian Federation Navy in various multilateral forums such as the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS), MILAN, the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), the Western Pacific Naval Symposium (WPNS), and the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus).
During his visit to New Delhi, Admiral Moiseyev is also scheduled to meet with the Chief of Defence Staff, the Defence Secretary, the Vice Chief of the Air Staff, and the National Maritime Security Coordinator of India. These meetings are part of his official engagements aimed at deepening bilateral naval relations.
In addition to his engagements in New Delhi, Admiral Moiseyev will visit Mumbai. There, he will hold bilateral discussions with the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command. He will also tour indigenous warships and submarines, the Naval Dockyard, and M/s Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, further exploring opportunities for cooperation and mutual growth.
