Having secured an order worth INR 9,200 crores from the MoD for supplying LRSAM systems, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has for the first time successfully breached the INR 50,000 crore mark in its order books. BEL, since inception, has been providing the country’s armed forces with cutting-edge and revolutionary Radars & Weapon Systems, Electronic Warfare Systems, Fire Control Systems, Communication Systems and C4I Systems.
The seven Long Range Surface-to-Air Missile (LRSAM) systems contracted by the Indian Navy will find their way to frontline guided-missile stealth frigates. BEL, already has signed contracts with Mazagon Dock Limited and Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) for supplying LRSAM systems to be fitted on-board seven ships to be built by these shipbuilders. BEL has never signed a contract of this value ever before. Smt. Anandi Ramalingam, Director (Marketing), BEL signed the contracts on behalf of BEL with MDL and GRSE.
Being the lead integrator of Akash Missile system, BEL has proven its expertise in the realm of Turnkey Missile Systems. BEL, navaratna company, is equipping itself for futuristic programmes such as the Quick Response Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM) for the Indian Army, Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MRSAM) for the Indian Air Force and Long Range Surface to Air Missile (LRSAM) for the Navy. BEL has also been the lead integrator of LRSAM systems for the Navy’s P-17A stealth frigates.
BEL, through its indigenisation efforts in line with ‘Make in India’ initiative has been giving the vital support to the forces and to the nations in being self-reliant in defence manufacturing. With this milestone deal, indigenisation has also got major boost parallel with the efforts of BEL.
