Open Letter to President Zelensky

Date:

Dear President Zelensky,

Your country is at war with a superpower, yet you are out of your country for long durations of time. If your schedule for the last five days is to be seen, you have not set foot on Ukrainian soil.

For a President of a democratic country, it is natural and sometimes mandatory to have a Deputy in place. Generally, a country has a council of ministers. Why don’t you let your foreign affairs minister do all the running around? Why don’t you let your defence minister handle some of the tricky situations? You were in the Oval Office the day before, with the Prime Minister of the UK yesterday, with EU leaders today, and will have dinner with King Charles in the evening today, but where is your team?

English is not your first language. Do you not have a single trusted minister in your cabinet who can communicate effectively in English? Why did you personally go to the White House when you could have asked your Deputy to do the same job? You are at war, your men are fighting it out, and you are not even in your country.

Ever since war has broken out, one has seen the Russian Foreign Affairs Minister doing the running around, whereas Putin has hardly moved out of the country. Strike a balance and get a team in place. When President Trump says you don’t have a suit, he means you are so up and about as if you are not ready to be at peace. When you are called a dictator, maybe people around see a one-man show. This is not showbiz; it’s not a one-man show. Shun the limelight sometimes.

Sir, you were going to sign a minerals deal with a foreign country. You don’t have to discuss it with your parliament? You need no approvals, discussions, or consultations? Sir, your defence ministry and finance ministry can’t give an account of the exact amount of money given to you in aid, loan, or grant? Do you have any paper or agreement? Why don’t you show that paper which says money from the US was not a loan but a grant?

Sir, who are your generals? The world does not know a single name as yet. Don’t you think that since they have kept a superpower at bay for three years, they should be as famous as probably Rommel or Sharon? Or is your military planning also being executed by the EU? Are generals from Germany and the UK handling your troops?

There are many other unanswered questions. However, even if some are answered by your Information and Broadcasting Ministry, I would be grateful. By the way, why has not a single military briefing been carried out to date? Obviously, with such military accomplishments, a formal military briefing is in order. The world does not know your casualties or how many POWs you have taken. Even Hamas released figures of its dead—why not you?
