Combined Graduation Parade 2025: Indian Air Force Commissions 254 New Officers

The Combined Graduation Parade (CGP) held on 14 June 2025 at the Air Force Academy (AFA), Dundigal, Hyderabad, marked a significant milestone in the professional journey of 254 Flight Cadets of the Indian Air Force (IAF). These cadets, from both the Flying and Ground Duty branches, were formally commissioned as Flying Officers following the successful completion of rigorous pre-commissioning training.

The parade was reviewed by Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), who served as the Reviewing Officer (RO). The Chief of Air Staff awarded the President’s Commission to the graduating cadets, a solemn moment symbolizing their entry into commissioned service.

Upon his arrival, the CAS was received with military honors by Air Marshal Tejinder Singh, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Training Command, and Air Marshal PK Vohra, Commandant, AFA. The Reviewing Officer was accorded a General Salute, followed by a meticulously executed march-past by the graduating cadets.

Tri-Service Representation and International Collaboration At The Combined Graduation Parade

This year’s CGP also saw the inclusion of officers from other branches of the Indian Armed Forces and foreign military personnel. Notably, nine officers from the Indian Navy, seven from the Indian Coast Guard, and one officer from a friendly foreign nation were conferred the ‘Wings’, signifying their completion of basic flying training. Their inclusion underscores the tri-service synergy and India’s growing role in international defense collaboration.

CGP Highlights and Aerial Display

The parade’s highlight was the Commissioning Ceremony, where the cadets officially became Flying Officers. The Oath of Allegiance was administered by the Commandant of the Academy, reaffirming their duty to uphold India’s sovereignty, integrity, and honor.

The parade was further elevated by displays from the Akash Ganga Skydiving Team, the Air Warrior Drill Team (AWDT), and aerobatic performances by the renowned Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT). The airspace above Dundigal witnessed synchronized fly-pasts by Pilatus PC-7 MkII, Hawk, Kiran Mk-I, and Chetak trainer aircraft, showcasing the IAF’s aerial capabilities and training excellence.

In acknowledgment of outstanding achievements during training, top-performing officers were felicitated by the CAS:

  • Flying Officer Rohan Krishnamurti: The trainee from the Flying branch was awarded the President’s Plaque and the Chief of the Air Staff Sword of Honor for standing first in overall order of merit in the Pilots’ course.
  • Flying Officer Nishtha Vaid: Trainee from the Ground Duty branch, received the President’s Plaque for securing top honors among Ground Duty cadets.

These accolades reflect the IAF’s commitment to meritocracy, leadership development, and professional excellence.

Address by the Chief of the Air Staff

In his address to the newly commissioned officers, Air Chief Marshal Singh praised their immaculate turnout and unwavering discipline.

“When you chose to serve the nation, you opted for a career that is not only demanding, but also among the most rewarding and honourable. As we look to the future, two things are certain — the fast-evolving character of warfare and the increasing relevance of aerospace power.” – Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Chief of the Air Staff (CAS)

He further added, referring to recent operations by the Indian Air Force, ‘Operation Sindoor’, highlighting the IAF’s ability to execute precision strikes with surgical accuracy.

“Operation Sindoor stands as a shining testament to the unparalleled professionalism of the Indian Air Force. We have demonstrated our ability to deliver precise and decisive blows to the enemy. As the future of the Air Force, you must understand that the IAF has always been — and will continue to be — the first responder in times of national crisis.” – Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Chief of the Air Staff (CAS)

He concluded his address, by emphasizing the path ahead for the newly inducted officers, stating that the future battle space will be more complex than ever; underscoring the need for evolving into a true aerospace force. Furthermore, he reminded the officers that they would have to shoulder the responsibilities that will require “total commitment, relentless focus, innovation, and a deep passion for your calling.”

CGP Symbolizes Honor, Pride and Dignity In Service Of The Nation

The commissioning ceremony concluded with the newly minted officers marching in two columns, a ceremonial act that resonates with military tradition and institutional pride. As they stepped forward in formation, accompanied by martial tunes, the moment marked the beginning of a career defined by duty, honor, and sacrifice.

With parents and families in attendance, the parade was not just a formal military event but also an emotional milestone. For the cadets, this day will remain etched in memory as the first stride in a lifelong journey of service to the nation.
