Ukraine claims it has successfully destroyed one of Russia’s most important radar installations associated with the advanced S-500 missile defense system located in Crimea. According to Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Directorate, the elite “Prymary” (Ghosts) unit carried out a daring drone strike that targeted and destroyed the 98L6 “Yenisey” radar, a critical component of Russia’s air and missile defense network with capabilities to detect aerodynamic and ballistic threats over long distances.
This strike, if confirmed, represents a significant setback to Moscow’s defensive operations in the strategically vital Crimean peninsula. Russian officials have yet to comment on the reported attack.
The 98L6 radar is known for its high resistance to electronic jamming and its ability to track targets up to 600 kilometers away at altitudes of up to 100 kilometers, making it a vital asset in Russia’s air defense infrastructure.
