Sigma Advanced Systems has entered into a long-term strategic partnership with Indrajaal Drone Defence to supply the core radar and electronic warfare subsystems that form the technological backbone of Indrajaal’s counter-drone systems.
The strategic partnership is leading to approximately ₹250 crore of contracts for the first year, and provides for the exclusive supply of mission-critical systems and subsystems that Indrajaal will integrate across its counter-UAS solutions.
Furthermore, through Sigma’s established European operations via Nasmyth, the partnership enables market access for Indrajaal to enter the EU and NATO defence ecosystem, significantly expanding its global addressable market.
The collaboration brings together Sigma’s three decades of deep-tech defence engineering and manufacturing capability with Indrajaal’s system integration and deployment expertise, creating a fully indigenous counter-drone technology stack anchored in radar, sensing, jamming, and spoofing systems.
A technology backbone built over three decades
Founded in 1994, Sigma Advanced Systems has spent over 30 years building one of India’s most deeply integrated defence electronics and systems manufacturing platforms. Unlike conventional component suppliers, Sigma operates as a full-spectrum defence systems house, spanning concept design, mission-critical electronics engineering, embedded and real-time software, environmental qualification, high-reliability manufacturing, and lifecycle support.
Its long-standing participation in strategic defence programmes has enabled Sigma to develop institutional IP, engineering depth, and production maturity that very few private sector defence firms in India possess.
Proven across India’s frontline defence platforms
Sigma’s systems already power critical subsystems across India’s frontline platforms.
Its missile electronics portfolio supports systems such as NGARM (New Generation Anti-Radiation Missile), ASTRA, AKASH, LRSAM, and MRSAM.
In avionics, Sigma supplies solid-state flight data recorders and antenna control systems for platforms including SU-30, Hawk-132, IJT, AHL, and military helicopters. These systems are flight-certified and battle-proven.
Its naval and submarine portfolio includes heavy-weight torpedo rudder control electronics, power distribution systems, naval antenna systems, and LiDAR-based sensing solutions.
Sigma develops tactical reconnaissance radars and low-flying air target detection systems with operational ranges from 5 km to 45 km, forming a foundational layer for India’s emerging counter-UAS and border surveillance architectures.
Together, Sigma’s technologies underpin India’s missile, aerospace, naval, radar, and electronic warfare ecosystems, making it an invisible but indispensable enabler of national security platforms.
Why this Partnership Matters
Under the agreement, Sigma will continue to design, develop, and manufacture the radar, sensing, jamming, and spoofing subsystems, which Indrajaal will procure exclusively for integration into its counter-drone platforms.
This structure formalises a long-term model in which Sigma remains responsible for the evolution, performance, and reliability of the underlying technologies, while Indrajaal focuses on platform integration, deployment, and field operations.
Very few private companies in India have the capability to design and manufacture defence-grade Radars, Electronic Warfare Systems, Effectors, and Spoofers. Sigma is among a single-digit group of Indian firms with this depth of electronic warfare and sensing capability, built over decades of work across defence and aerospace programmes.
Sigma’s facilities support the entire lifecycle of these subsystems, from design and industrialisation to manufacturing, assembly, and environmental testing. Its existing infrastructure, certifications, and defence-qualified processes enable rapid scaling without new capacity creation, while maintaining traceability, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Anchoring growth in IP-led defence technologies
For Sigma Advanced Systems, the partnership reflects a strategic shift toward IP-led, system-critical defence technologies, rather than standalone manufacturing.
Counter-drone systems are rapidly becoming central to the protection of military assets, critical infrastructure, and strategic installations. The long-term value and differentiation in this domain reside in the sensors, radars, electronic warfare, and control intelligence layers that enable detection, denial, and neutralisation.
Commenting on the partnership, Sunil Kalidindi, CEO of Sigma Advanced Systems, said, “What we are bringing to this partnership is not just manufacturing capability. Sigma has spent years developing radars and electronic warfare technologies that make counter-drone systems effective in the battlefield. We own the manufacturing IP, we continue to invest in it, and Indrajaal is integrating those capabilities into its battle-proven platforms. This is a technology-led partnership.”
Kiran Raju, Co-Founder and CEO of Indrajaal, added, “Counter-drone systems are only as strong as the sensors and electronic warfare layers beneath them. Sigma’s ability to design and build Radars, Effectors, and Spoofers in-house is a critical advantage for us. Working with a partner that owns and continuously improves this technology gives us confidence as we scale deployments for defence and critical infrastructure.”
The partnership is expected to accelerate Indrajaal’s deployments across defence and critical infrastructure, while reinforcing Sigma’s position as one of India’s very few private sector companies with deep, IP-owned capabilities in radar and electronic warfare systems.
