Tension along the LoC with Pakistan
Amid rising tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan, there has been a surge in infiltration attempts by terrorists into Indian territory. With frequent ceasefire violations and well-trained infiltrators armed with sophisticated weapons, the situation raises concerns about a potential large-scale conflict similar to the Kargil War. This article delves into the escalating threats, possible involvement of external forces like China, and the critical security measures required to safeguard Indian borders.
Terrorist Infiltration and Ceasefire violations
There has been a spate of incidents along the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan where the enemy has tried to infiltrate terrorists into Indian territory. Almost 50 incidents of ceasefire violations from the Pakistani side have been reported in the last month alone. There have been nearly three dozen infiltration attempts in the last two months. This points to a clear design by Pakistan to incite violence inside India after the formation of a new government in Pakistan that lacks a popular mandate. The question is: Is Pakistan planning something similar to what Hamas did, possibly with the help of China? Another question is: How many terrorists have infiltrated, and what is their larger plan?
Careful examination of attack videos shows that the infiltrators are extremely well-trained and ruthless. They could be either veterans of the army or BAT team regulars of the Pakistani Army. The infiltrators have been provided with new kinds of arms and ammunition. Steel bullets and, in some cases, even armor-piercing bullets have been found with the infiltrators. The new set of terrorists seems to be better trained in stealth and jungle warfare. They are being pushed in with the help of tunnels and old guides. Some of the infiltrators are entering empty-handed, without weapons, from normal routes or even via Nepal and then receiving weapons near the LoC. Drones with heavy payload capacity are being used to drop weapons along the LoC, which are then used by these infiltrators. The question then is: Is there a bigger design? Also, is China involved in this design?
The security setup in the country has its task cut out. The office of the National Security Advisor must proactively address these questions, and the various ministries, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, must act accordingly. Simultaneously, we must keep our plans ready to strike deep and strike hard if warranted.
Key Points
- Increase in Incidents: Nearly 50 ceasefire violations and three dozen infiltration attempts have been reported recently.
- Well-Trained Infiltrators: The infiltrators are well-trained, possibly veterans or BAT team regulars from the Pakistani Army.
- Advanced Weaponry: Infiltrators are equipped with sophisticated arms, including steel and armor-piercing bullets.
- Stealth and Jungle Warfare: The new set of terrorists are better trained in stealth and jungle warfare.
- Infiltration Tactics: Infiltrators use tunnels, old guides, drones, and even enter through Nepal to receive weapons near the LoC.
- Potential Bigger Design: Questions arise about a larger design and possible Chinese involvement.
The escalating tensions along the LoC and the sophisticated nature of the infiltration attempts suggest a significant threat to Indian security. The Indian Army and other security agencies must remain vigilant and prepared to respond decisively. The office of the National Security Advisor, along with various ministries, must take proactive steps to address these emerging threats and ensure the safety and security of Indian territory.
By addressing these concerns with a well-coordinated and strategic approach, India can safeguard its borders and prevent another large-scale conflict similar to the Kargil War.
