On August 20, 2024, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar will host Japanese Ministers Mr. Kihara Minoru and Ms. Yoko Kamikawa for the 3rd India-Japan 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue in New Delhi. The dialogue aims to review and enhance bilateral cooperation between India and Japan.
In a significant diplomatic engagement, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar will host the Japanese Minister of Defense, Mr. Kihara Minoru, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Yoko Kamikawa, for the 3rd India-Japan 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue on August 20, 2024, in New Delhi. This high-level dialogue is a testament to the deepening strategic partnership between India and Japan, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation and addressing regional and global issues.
During the 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue and the bilateral meeting on the sidelines, the Ministers will review the current state of bilateral cooperation and explore new initiatives to enhance engagements between India and Japan. India and Japan share a “Special Strategic and Global Partnership” grounded in the shared values of democracy, freedom, and the rule of law. Defense cooperation has become a cornerstone of this relationship, crucial for ensuring a free, open, inclusive, and prosperous Indo-Pacific amid the evolving global environment.
This visit by the Japanese Ministers will further deepen defense cooperation and bring greater depth to the Special Strategic and Global Partnership. The second India-Japan 2+2 dialogue was previously held in September 2022 in Japan, marking significant progress in bilateral relations.
